From: blurry on 17 Apr 2007 16:54 Son bought a 78 XS750 Yamaha beater bike and can't seem to find a throttle cable to fit. Apprently the previous owner put taller bars on it and now a replacement cable is all but impossible to find. Anyone else had a simular issue and come up with a fix? Or even better, enyone know where to find a cable MFG that lists the lengths of OEM and aftermarket cables? Thanks Murray

Might be easier to find a lower bar instead! -- Rayvan

The 78 XS750 came in two flavors: Regular (XS750-E) and Special (XS750-SE). The Regular models have lower bars and hence, shorter throttle cables than the Specials. You can get both cables from http://partsnmore.com for about $12 each. https://www.partsnmore.com/cat_index.php?model=xs750-850&category=controls Look about 80% of the way down. Partsnmore is a very good place to order from. Over the years, I have never had an issue with them. Another place for many parts is http://mikesxs.com - He only deals with the XS650, but many parts are interchangeable. The NOS replacement controls in particular may come in handy at some point ... I bought a set for my old 77 2D and was very pleased. Last, but CERTAINLY not least, I would purchase cross-reference software for Yamahas from http://zedder.com - It can be invaluable in matching up parts and is well worth the money.
