You put forward an excellent case as to why the US citizens should be
paranoid about their gun rights being stripped away. Luckily for them,
they have a constitution to fall back on.

Registration always leads to confiscation?....a familiar call for most
firearms owners. We are vetted at when we go for our firearms
licence....once we are classed as 'fit and proper' people, we can get as
many guns as we need. They are not required to be registered to us.

When buying a gun from a dealer, they record the make serial # and my
firearms licence details. If it's mail order, we need to get a
procurement form signed by the local arms officer (police). When buying
from another shooter, all I need to do is show him my licence.

The choice you had was 'Hobson's choice'. :( Unless you you were
prepared to become a criminal.....luckily for the politicians, they read
the people correctly and instead of an armed uprising, they got your guns.

At least you get to feel safer 'cos there are less guns in the hands of
honest citizens?, while the crims still have theirs.......<sarcasm intended>

I read that the English Olympic pistol teams had to travel to France to
practice? It sucks that you have had to change your way of life for a
'knee jerk reaction' by your politicians and looking at the way the UN
wants the guns out of ALL citizens hands, those laws could well be
creeping this way. Have the laws encroached on your re-loading as well?

Are there forests/conservation areas where you could go shooting in
England? Or do the upper crust own all those sort of forests? Down here
the 'Dept. of Conservation' issue (free) hunting permits for govt. lands.

See there's the thing. My guns are not registered with anyone (though
they were registered with the military so I could shoot at thier
ranges, beer cup) As far as the men with funny hats are concerned I
own no guns and my black powder firearms are not considered fire arms.
<boggle> Which is odd as I can reload the pistol as fast as any other
revolver not using moon clips or speed loaders. I also have as much
ftlbs per sqin as most revovlers available. 8^)

And a lot less dangerous for the peace officers, too. Which leads to
such things as thousands of people being cited for "reckless driving"
for travelling at 81mph on a 65mph interstate highway that was
designed to be safe at 70mph .... in a 1950's floating boat with bias
ply tires, drum brakes, and recirculating ball steering ... while
someone riding their motorcycle (on-topic content) at triple digit
speeds in rush hour traffic is ignored because it would be dangerous
to chase them down.

Way too dangerous allowing people to own clubs.
