Silicone dielectric grease has a higher melting point. Vaseline is petroleum based, rather than silicone based. Use it if you want, a small tube of admittedly expensive dielectric grease lasts me for years. You can buy it in a larger size and save a bit.

Made for the job, my pint tin of the stuff is around 50 years old and still half full, a little bit goes a long way.
