Converted farmhouse in the French Alps - we use bottled propane. We do
have a patio, but we don't heat it, even though it's currently under 80cm
of snow.

Relying on ab Alfa to keep warm in winter strikes me as a bit risky.
Though I suppose you could always torch it.
