You still have to plan carefully.

Where did Napolean keep his armies?
Up his sleevies.

It was a sort of rally for bikes. IIRC only police could take part and
there were teams from different countries. They used the hardest passes,
some of which were not tarmac surfaced. The rider of a Triumph Tiger
Trail won it in 1981.

Strictly speaking they don't race on the roads, but from what I am told
they have to press on well to keep on schedule. Special 'stages' at
circuits and closed hill climbs. So essentially road legal bikes not
racers. Amazingly a Vozan VX10 won a class in it last year - and yes
there were other seemingly 'better' bikes entered.

I was 'opin' you'd turn up.

As an alternative, how about a bash at the non-stop motorcycling world
record?

I was looking at this yesyerday:

http://www.lpmcc.net/activity/event_gwr_4.htm

Set in 1972 on a Notrun Commando, three LPMCC members rode around
Cadwell Park for just over 24 hours - and the motorcycle /never
stopped/ in that time. Sounds like a challenge that uk.r.m could be
equal to - whaddya think?

Sounds like Maudes Trophy territory. Long overdue for winner by the look
of it:
