You are wrong. Biological and medical science in Germany almost
died under Hitler.
I recommend the following book: "Biologists Under Hitler" by Ute
Deichmann" (Harvard, 1996). It describes how biological programs under
Hitler became inefficient.
The U.S. and Russia after WWII imported rocket scientists from
Germany and biologists from Japan. If Germany had an effective biology
program, the biologists in Germany would have been in far more demand.
Hitler screwed the biology programs in Germany because of his
superstitions and psychoses.
Germany had plenty of good biologists before Hitler, and
really good biological programs before Hitler. However, they put the
most superstitious managers in charge of their programs. Being a
racist was more important than having an organized mind. Also,
biologists from other countries avoided working with German
scientists. Without the help of other biologists, the German
biologists could make little progress.
A lot of the science in concentration camps was based on
superstition rather than science. The laboratory managers wrote books
on race classification. They did very little on real genetics.
Basically, you got ahead by touting Nazi propaganda. The doctors who
experimented in the concentration camps were basically insane.
There is on exception that the book doesn't discuss. Conrad Lorenz
was a really good evolutionary biologists. He did some good work in
animal behavior. However, his work stands out because it is alone. He
touted racist propaganda, but he also did mathematical analysis of
behavior. His studies of behavior have proved robust.
The Japanese had a real good biology program. Unfortunately, a
lot of it was in the realm of germ warfare. The Japanese scum bags
were as racist as the Germans. They murdered lots of people with their
germs. They vivisected human beings, especially civilians. However,
the scientists involved were not superstitious. They found out a lot
about germs. However, they didn't place maniacs in charge of biology
departments.
Sadly, the Japanese involved these horrible experiments were
basically sane. They objected at first, but did the horrible deeds
anyway.

Not quite, no.

It's the same ingrown personality trait that causes people of all
sorts to decry the ACLU because it has in the past defended someone -
or some principal- that they disagree with.

The fact that the ACLU is strictly non-partisan, and will defend *any*
viewpoint -if they think there's a question of Constitutional law
involved that needs to be clarified- never seems to cross these
folks' minds: only the fact that ACLU once did something that *they*
didn't like remains, and that's enough to inspire an irrational, life-
long hatred.

By that same line of reasoning, any magazine that puts someone like
Hitler on bin Ladin on their cover must naturally be fawning upon
them, QED.

Never expect logic when you're dealing with the masses. Them asses.

The ACLU may be non-partisan but they definitely have their political
leanings:

To right wingers like your Gunner buddy, EVERYONE who isn't in lock
step with their Nazi ideals is dangerous.
