Which is a > pity, because I could use such a word right now. Ever since H1 was born I've been meticulously saying left / right where appropriate. With H2, I've not been using the words left or right at all. My plan was to see if H1 was instinctively able to tell the difference between left and right when he grows up, or is at least significantly better at it than H2. Assuming that was the case, I'd then be able to blame my parents the next time I had to spend thirty seconds trying to work which hand was which. Unfortunately, I mentioned it to A. the other week, and now I've been banned from experimenting on my own children :-/

Who's children are you expected to be allowed to experiment on? Over the years, I've managed to condition #1 stepson to swear randomly on hearing the word "badger". It brings me a wry smile of satisfaction every time. -- d.

Mind you, it was good enough for Jean Piaget [1], so I don't see why you shouldn't be allowed. [1] I listened to a podcast of In Our Time, on "The Infant Brain", on the way to work this morning. -- Champ We declare that the splendor of the world has been enriched by a new beauty: the beauty of speed.
