From: spike1 on 9 Mar 2010 08:09 And verily, didst Champ <news(a)champ.org.uk> hastily babble thusly: > You made the same point as Ace. In the thread, it looks like you made > it before him (9:18 vs 9:32), but as yours didn't appear until much > later, he concluded that the clock on your machine (and therefore the > time on the outgoing post) is wrong. News doesn't go instantly. I posted it about 9:18 but the fetchnews appears not to've kicked in until 9:32. I triggered it manually then. If I'd left it to do it on its own, the post might not've appeared until 10. (really should check my cron settings sometime but as I usually trigger the fetchnews manually once I've finished posting, there's no real need...) System clock's fine here. People really need to realise usenet isn't instant. :) -- | |What to do if you find yourself stuck in a crack| | spike1(a)freenet.co.uk |in the ground beneath a giant boulder, which you| | |can't move, with no hope of rescue. | | Andrew Halliwell BSc |Consider how lucky you are that life has been | | in |good to you so far... | | Computer Science | -The BOOK, Hitch-hiker's guide to the galaxy.|

"Near side" and "off side" aren't terms used here to describe either side of a vehicle. We use "left" and "right", from the perspective of the driver or rider. As anyone with any sense whatsoever would. |
