You aren't too far from Olympia/Tumwater, right? I might be in SEA in a coupla weeks, maybe I'll rent a bike and take a ride to Gerbing direct, check 'em out. -- Numbero #128

They're called "Pulse Width Modulation" controllers and they do exactly what George said . Control comes from varying the "width" of the "on" and"off" times . They cost about six bucks to build - you can get kits on the internet that do the same thing for MUCH less than either supplier charges . You supply the box and connectors , maybe another six bucks ... One of my upcoming projects , those gloves can be too warm sometimes . -- Snag "90 FLHTCU "Strider" '39 WLDD "PopCycle" BS 132/SENS/DOF

Must have 'em squared around. The guy that runs WnS invented the Heatroller and is constantly refining 'em. /from what I understand he did a lot of design on Gerbing's stuff before he got the heave ho. I had a controller meltdown a week out of warranty and Gerbing's told me I was SOL. The WnS guy not only stood behind it he sent me pick of whatever I wanted out of the catalog. When I plugged the wrong wire in the wrong place (old SAE connectors) and toasted it he once again shipped a replacement free of charge.... over a year out of warranty. That kind of service earns my loyalty. If you want something specially configured like my wires are I'm thinking he's the only game in town. AFAIK Gerbings only sells off the rack controller-wise. 112 |
