From: saddlebag on 25 Apr 2010 09:25 So for the new year I made the following mods. 1) Hyperpro fork springs 2) Hyperpro shock 3) Latest PCIII map (made in 2009 for GenII i.e. 2006 and above models) 4) Enabled the PCIII accelerator pump option. This gives the bike an extra squirt of fuel when cranking the throttle for tens of engine cycles. Also had the valves checked (all in spec) and new Pilot Powers mounted. The bike with ~28k miles now functions better that at any time of its life. Me ready for summer! I've already tried a couple of different ones and have been thinking about getting a custom map made on a dyno. I didn't know there was an accelerator pump option- I'll have to see about enabling that on mine. I don't actually have my PC III installed at the moment, I had it in there but removed it after seeing the mileage drop precipitously.

Gen I and Gen II maps aren't directly interchangeable. Mines an '07, so yes, I used the Gen II version of Wally's Smoothness Map.

I downloaded what I had in the bike which I richened at low rpm because I still wasn't happy with the on/off throttle response. I compared them and it is quite a bit different than this map he did in 2009 so I'm sure it wasn't the map I used as a baseline. Anyway, this new one works as good as anything I've tried. Mileage still shows around 46 mpg which is probably a tad optimistic, but it always gets better as the weather gets hotter. Put new plugs and a new air filter in it too, so that may have had some effect.

The mileage reported by the onboard display reflects the injector pulse widths output by the ECU, not the actual pulse widths delivered by the PC III. So it won't be anywhere near correct, and since most of the PC III map will be (+), it's going to be optimistic. The only way to figure your actual mileage is by using the fuel pump numbers and the trip meter.
