Carrying a camera everywhere you go is also strongly recommended. Most
phones have them anyway. Some years ago, some goit ignored a Give Way
sign in his[1] brand new VW Golf[2] GTI and I T-boned him in my car.
He was terribly apologetic at the time, and later on changed his tune
to make it all my fault.

Unfortunately for him, I'd taken photographs of the street from all
angles, prominently showing the Give Way signs, and also the point of
impact (easly identifiable by a load of broken glass and the contents
of a radiator). His insco admitted liability very quickly.

[1] Well, his girlfriend's. And it was a company car.

Not a bad idea. I came upon a classical crash where a cage had hit a bike
whilst turning left in front of it. The outline of tfe now broken fork tube
was printed into her bumper. The rider had been thrown (rolled?) clear over
the cage and was lying face down 10 yards behind it, conscious but unable t
move. Paramedics had been called so I took pic's of it all then slid a card
into his pocket. A couple weeks later his lawyer called and was overjoyed
to get them 'cuz the cager had sung the "came out of nowhere doing 100 and
hit her while she was stopped" song so her insurer was refusing to pay his
medical or bike claims. Luckily the pic's showed otherwise.
