Think it works on most modernish cars. I've done the same on the Jeep a
few times when the battery's gone completely flat as it won't tickover
after.

The funny thing was Googling for other people with the same problem the
first time it happened, & seeing all sorts of posts about people
replacing expensive parts to try & solve it. Thankfully I ignored them
& carried on Googling until I found the 'earth the +ve battery lead for
30 seconds' trick.

I'm wondering if that'll clear the rear light failure light I've got.
All bulbs are good and work fine but one and sometimes both warning
lights come up. Can't hurt to give it a go.

Mine did it again this morning. Fortunately, I was just across town,
so I got a lift home, got the spare key, and it started straight away.
So it's almost certainly the key.

I'll be doing exactly the same!

I got this with the Saab. Lights working but failure warning. Cleaned the
holder and bulb, no difference. Then looked at the filament with an eye
glass and it was clear the wire was a little frazzled. Changed the bulb and
it was fine. Same happened on the other side. Resistance I guess.
