From: Aitch on 2 Dec 2009 16:37 Evening barkeep, patrons of the bar... This round is on my tab, I have a technical question to ask. Rode to work this morning no indication that anything would be wrong later in the day. This evening I'm faced with taking public transport home as Mr Bike refuses to fire up! Mr Bike is a 2000 Wide Glide, only had a stage 1 kit added. This evening I turned on the gas, turned the ignition switch on, set the engine switch to run, pressed the starter button not a damn thing as far as getting the engine fired up. The headlight works, turn signals, horn, butt.... not the brake light using either front or rear levers. I know for a fact that the brake light was working last night when I rode home. When I turned the ignition switch on there was the usual brief, quiet whirring sound. Everything appeared to be as it should be up until the moment I pressed the starter switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've got to go and get on the tube, go home and dig out the workshop manual. Tomorrow I think I'll be carting it and a bunch of assorted tools back to work. Cheers all -- Aitch PH#19 BS#209 '09 FLTR (Miles) '00 FXDWG (Mr Bike)

But after several F5 refreshes, don't see it. So I might have hit X, instead of send. Who knows? Hope you find the problem. SHIRLEY!!!!! More PBR. -- Larry AH#136 Owner, rmh VB&G

Farted around with the kill switch and sometimes it'd fire, sometimes it wouldn't. Found a broken wire to the kill switch. YMMV..... 112

I have been chasing a non starting on the old Heritage for ages and it turned out to be the battery. I discovered after fitting a new circuit breaker, all small guage wires, solenoid, regulator, starter motor, and battery cables that you must have a genuine Harley battery for reliable starting. My entire starting system should be good for another 20 yeras though. Say hi to Mrs Aitch Billski 86 Heritage

Not sure, but you'd probably want to use a pretty heavy wire for that, right? That's probably a lotta juice going there. |
