This is as good a place as any to mention Autoroute 2010.
Available, er, soon.
New, improved *and* imports/exports .gpx files. Allegedly.
Review(ish) here plus links for trial version(2Gb+)

Yes, I'm conversant with Mapsource but this is a Satnav in its own right for
those who were not aware.
I use AR on my netbook for planning while away plus it acts(at a push) as a
backup.

Is this a real problem? How long does it take to find the satellites
again?
I'd have to find a spot for a switch......................

No I don't. Mind you; I don't have the silly one yet
either.....................
(/Lets WUN know)

What's the problem with the silly one?

Heh. I bought Autoroute 2000 Europe years (9) ago.

Its awkward using a lappy when you're riding......

you have to have the ignition switched on to use the satnav. A PITA if you
want to do a bit of route planning whilst having a break from riding,
especially on a recent bike where you cannot turn off the lights.
