I'm not sure. It's possibly either the space between beam-clearing
slits or jaws (to scrape off divergent particles) or the distance between
beam-monitoring coils/squids/whatever. TOTEM I could understand, they move
their detectors in close to the beam, but LHCb I'm far less familiar with.
On Page1 the P2 and P8 would refer to "point 2" and "point 8" -- see the
map of sector temperatures at cern.ch/lhc -- point 8 is LHCb and point 2
is the ALICE experiment.

Ah, a bit of googling shows that they must be jaws, somehow TDI
means "LHC injection beam stopper", probably in French...
