I don't think Ivan has previously posted an actual date, but the 3.5TeV
fun is scheduled to start in earnest on March 30th.

Oh well - I suppose I'd better cover myself in ashes and repent.

Well, they only officially announced it this morning, tho' the
gently sliding "possible" date had stabilised at that for the last ten days
or so. They'd promised at least seven days' notice. I _think_ they are
going to start at 0900 CERN time so it'll be an early start next Tuesday.
Keep an eye out for BBC coverage, too.

I'm going to try to set up a few displays somewhere at Brunel,
but don't have anywhere just yet. I'll post some URLs to watch a bit
later if anyone wants -- I just finished porting our software to a new
release today so the pressure's off me for a bit.

It'll be interesting to see how long before they get collisions,
it was quite quick with the original 450 GeV beams, but apparently LEP
took three days before they recorded collisions. Given how smoothly they
are operating 3.5 TeV beams at the moment[1] I don't think it will be long
before they nudge them into interaction.

Not showing anything at the moment, but they are preparing for injection.
This afternoon they had both beams stable at 3.5 TeV. Ah, the magnets just
hit 450 GeV, which is injection energy, so something may happen soon.

And, we have beam in B1 -- and now B2. The link on the above page

updates more often than the one in the cmstv frame.

...and the LHC3 page shows a bit more history, including the energy
tune of the ring magnets.
