Heck, yeah!! Once bitten by the bug, resistance is futile. :)

Let me know where they are posted! Looking forward to seeing them.
I hope you were able to ride between the storms.

Yeah you just never know.

We rented a Jeep in Moab and enjoyed a little off roading. Looking at
those canyons from within offers an entirely different perspective. I
am not sure I could ride a bike along some of those shelf roads
though. Very narrow and it is a long friggin way down.

We avoided the extreme stuff, but riding the Rockies this time of year
means you are going to see some bad weather.

I'll post a bunch of pictures soon.

Smaller bikes (250-400cc) do just fine on those trails. Couple of guys
from here recently returned from riding all over there on 2 WR250's
and a DR350 like mine. They did great. A BMW 650GS along with them had
a bit more trouble with the sand and rocky parts, but not bad for a 60-
something year-old rider.

I'm glad you took the opp to do some off-roading! I have to say I
really prefer off-road to pavement because of the opportunities of
experience that are less available on or from pavement. The
environment becomes more intimate. That pertains to four and two
wheels.

We plan to spend several months in that area when we get on the road
traveling in 2012, with rotating base camps. I hope you'll come down
for a visit then. (I'm thinking of coming up with a turtle name since
our home will be with us ;)

Yeah, I hope we miss bad weather on the way to and from Oregon in
September.

Heh, heh, heh, I would be more concerned with my phobia of heights
than I would be with the bike. <g>

It was a fun day. Being able to see those canyons from the bottom
looking up was amazing. We were able to see a couple of arches not
readily visible from the paved surfaces and got to visit the launch
point for the car over the cliff scene, in Thelma and Louise. I've not
seen the movie but was told they launched two cars over the cliff.
Apparently the director wasn't pleased with the way the first one hit
the Colorado River so he ordered a second car be sacrificed, and then
he cut that part from the film.

I think there is a very good chance I will come down to see you folks.

Well the turtle or tortoise have been personified in a variety of
ancient mythologies and often used in children's stories. Ijapa, World
Turtle or Yertle come to mind as possibilities.
