So this is my 5th year at the U. In previous years the motorcycle
spots were mostly full, all kinds of bikes and scooters. This year
they are mostly empty. Yeah we had a cold wet spring but now the
weather is perfect (ok, a bit warm at 101f in the afternoon). I have
no explanation.

And hardly anyone waves anymore. Yeah there are fewer bikes out on my
weekend jaunts, but the waves are still way down. Again no
explanation.

Has anyone else noticed this in their neck of the woods?

Nope.

We're year 'round here in Ventura, CA. I see just as many out riding,
on average, as in years past. What I don't see is as many folks in the
dealerships buying new/used bikes. I think folks are holding on to
their 3-5 year old scoots that in years past they might have been
thinking of trading in and are just out riding them.

I see a lot more scooter traffic now and also more women riding both
scooters and motorcycles.

So, the UT stands for University of Texas does it? My son lives in
Buda, just outside Austin. He says he's noticed _more_ riders out this
year.

Nope...seems like there are a few more. Kinda wish the idiots would
wear proper gear though...no helmets and no proper gear of ANY KIND is
not a smart thing to do.

If not a wave, a head nod for sure....unless it's a Harley-Davidson
rider, then it's a 50/50. And even then it's only if I wave first. All
other riders seem to wave at about the same time as I do? There seem to
be less bikes and the riders are younger, but it is winter and old bones
ache.....

Nope, Utah.
