hold on, hold on ... weird, weird turn there ...

that whole post -- you capitalize on that part?

that's me trying to respond to you, road glidin' don ... i'm telling
you flat out i have no idea what you're talking about

i have no hostility ... my whole original post was about the fact that
while i want to get a harley, i seem to be getting flak for it but i
can't figure out why

what chip on my shoulder?

what are you claiming is wrong with me wanting a bike?

you mentioned something about me having some kind of fantasy, and
stretched to come up with what i thought you were saying -- that's
not what i think, that's what i was guessing you think that i think

such pointlessness!

just tell me why there's resistance buying a harley, but not in buying
a honda or a triumph?

it's what i'd picture if i showed up in rags and wanted to buy a rolls
royce ... except i'm in a t-shirt and trying to buy a harley ... and i
am ASKING why that is, that's all

where do i come across hostile?

or are you supposing that's something off the page? that that's how i
am? if anything, i go around apologizing because i spend too much
time in the corporate touchy-feely world

no, that's not my fantasy, that's what i expected RGD to think that *i
believed* was my fantasy

and how was it that me explaining that i'm not a biker seemed ripe to
you to accuse me of arrogance? all i said was that in 2 years, i've
felt a need to nod to others who ride ... they're part of this special
thing we got here

i don't understand why some people look at another bike with open
arms, and others look at another and think "he's no good because he's
riding / not riding X"

My mentors (who otta know) said most of the post ww2 "biker" culture was
derived from movies, beginning with 'The Wild One'. Consider the impact had
Fonda drove a VW van in 'Easy Rider'.

I rode for 26 years before I bought my first Harley in 2004. Neither
then, nor when I bought my second (and current) Harley in 2006, was
there any resistance to me buying a Harley, and had there been, I
would've simply ignored it. Who cares what other people think I (or
you) should or should not be riding? They're not paying for my
vehicles, I am. If you want a Harley, I suggest you buy one and ride
the wheels off of it. They're fun, and once you've done it you might
just find that the "differences" between Harley and other brands are
not nearly so large as you currently perceive them to be. I know
that was the case for me.

BTW, there's no reason to boycott a particular dealer just because
they might have to order or wait for a particular model or model
configuration that you want. Nor is there any reason not to look at
as many dealers as you want to while trying to find your exact
parameters in an "in-stock" unit.
