And is his problem a non-functioning starter motor? If so, this is a common fault on these bikes and it happened on a Yam FZ750 I bought as a magazine project bike many moons ago. For the starter, you can by-pass the relay with a wire run from the battery. Note that this makes the starter circuit permanently live - press the button, even with the ignition off, and it'll spin the engine - but the bike still won't start as the ignition circuit is disabled until you turn on the key. Worth checking out - it worked for me. Seems a bit odd, says PayPal accepted on the ad, but then says winning bidder has to phone him with credit card details. Also says UK only, so perhaps he's not prepared to send it abroad. Eleven pins, so I think it controls just about lots. I believe that the problem is with the fuel pump. He thinks running out of fuel may have caused the problem. -- Paul. Far more likely that the fuel pump has gone AWOL, but even so, running out of fuel wouldn't do that.
