Mate of mine has a Genesis (750?). The electric gadget thing (relay I
think) has gone bad and he says he can't get one in Spain.

Anyone around here got one of these in their shed:

It has these numbers on the top:

3EN-81950-00
G8R-30Y-B
OMRON JAPAN
28Y0D2

Doesn't look too sophisticated, I'd have a gander at buzzing it
out and possibly opening it up.

http://www.visi.com/~olsonm/ukrm/relay_assembly.jpg was clipped from:

http://www.fzrarchives.com/fzr600/600_manual/FZR600%20Chap%209.pdf

Found via googling here:

http://www.fixya.com/motorcycles/t1548697-relay

This is often reffered to as the master relay or the relay assembly and it has about 4 different circuits in it which include a couple diodes and a couple relays. More information about this relay and the entire electrical system of a Yamaha FZR can be found at
http://www.fzrarchives.com/online_manuals.html this site has been around forever over 6 years since I've had my fizzer and they never let me down with all the info I need.
In particular if you D/L the manual for the 600 CC you can use section 8 and you will see all the information you need to troubleshoot this relay and test it. You must check continuity and resistance across a couple of different sets of pins to properly test all the included circuits in the module.
The reference values to check all of the circuits in this module are in all 3 of the section 8 files that are provided in the manuals that are linked above. There are a couple circuits on the lighting system check for this relay module in file 1 and 3 and the testing of the ignition cut off relay
and diode inside this module can be found in file 2. Hope this helps took a lil bit to find the specs I needed but this info got me through the test I needed to diagnoss this relay to be an issue that I was having with my Ingnition System on my 96' FZR lucky for us most years 89-99 are the same so
this manual will work for most people.. they even have a manual for the 400 CC on there too I think.

So phone someone in the UK and pay extra for Euro-Post.
Not that hard, is it?

Not hard, no. Assuming I know who to phone. What's much easier though, is
ask here if anyone has one in their shed spare. If not, someone else
might pop up and say "these guys in <anytown> are good. Give them a call".

When I said "can't get one in Spain", this might equally have been "can't
get one in Scotland" ie; it looks like they might be thin on the ground.

At least the other reply suggested a dealer - albeit in the US.

Looks like I'll do it the "not hard" way then, and try and find a dealer
who a: has one, b: will post it here and c: can be trusted.

Thanks for your help.
