+1 on the running out != kill the relay assy idea. Electric fuel pumps
really don't like being run dry, they overheat. Most systems have some
sort of circuit that interrupts power to the pump if the engine isn't
spinning.

First check the fuel pump. Then, if the pump checks out good, electrically
test the relay assembly 100% before buying a replacement. Not hard to do
with a cheap DVOM.

Thanks. I'm still awaiting a reply - and I'll talk to my friend tonight
about the suggestions and comments below ie; check fuel pump and relay.

I'm going to dig out the schematic and attack the relay with my Avometer,
but matey reckons that the relay "pulses" the pump, the pump being a
simple solenoid and diaphragm, and said relay has ceased to "pulse". He
says if he puts power direct to the pump it clicks - same as if using the
relay. Sounds to me like the pump's had it. Could he be right about the
"pulsing" thing?

I really dunno. Leccy tech isn't my thing. I'd just have thought that if
you're running power to the pump and it is only clicking, that would
bean the pump is indeed FUBAR'd, but SWK will be along shortly.
