At 16, 17, and 18 my Dad got me a job at his place - United
Glass, on shifts, and during term time I worked at a patrol
station.

I paid for *most* of my own transport, but on at least 2 occasions
my parents helped me out.

No. I didn't get a proper salary until I was 18. Up to then it was a
weekly wage. Which in itself marked me out as something separate from
the Working Classes who were on an hourly rate.

Certainly, having kids gives your opinion on parenting issues very little
weight over the opinions of those who don't, as it is very obvious that a
great many parents know SFA about the job (I have two relatively well
adjusted kids in spite of me being one of their parents).
