Not me guv, you can blame The Mother of Them All for the way my kids
turned out, sperm and cash was my only contribution.

No - I did that myself, but they did help later on, like instead of
part-exing their SO Morris 1100 I 'inherited' it.

But at the same time some of my mates were spoon-fead, with new or nearly
new fully financed cars, hence 'you are mistaking your own
experiences for everyone else's.'

In equal quantities I don't doubt

I can't understand anyone who can afford it not helping their kids
out. They'll get the money eventually so spend it on them now rather
than let them inherit it and pay even more tax.

I can't argue with that.

The reason my parents generation mostly (nods to Rope) didn't buy
their kids cars was because they couldn't afford it. A car, even an
old banger, was a pretty significant purchase back then. Nowadays,
when you can get a car with a years ticket for a few hundred quid, and
I can see why most parents make it a 17th birthday present or similar.
I doubt I'll be any different.
