Roach poles are a nice piece of kit, I have two. It's often a surprise
to the bloke on the next peg along the bank what can be done with one.

I live VERY close to a popular coarse match fishery & if you were daft enough to
call their expensive poles "rods" then you're gonna get wet :-)

Identify where the serious business of angling is done, park up & leave the kit
in the boot. Walk around & I can practically guarantee that if course fishing is
for you, you will have met your future mentor within 20mins.

Whatever you do - don't read Angling in Ernest by Fred Taylor.

I used to go fishing from time to time - with little success. I read said
book and sold all my kit immediately (1). 1972 it was - never fished since.

1. Bought a tweed jacket so I would look prematurely aged (2).

2. So I could get into the Con club, drink beer and play snooker (3) past
midnight.

3. Press bell and nice lady would bring up fresh round of drinks - charged a
shilling (4) extra on the round.

4. It was called 5 pence by then - but I'm slow to adapt.
