So the only question left is why keep responding to this guy ?

I can see responding when there's bad technical advice being
given, but otherwise it seems like the old "never wrestle with a
pig" adage applies in spades.

As the Australians say, "No worries." Not on whether a vote will be
held (it's unnecessary) nor on what the results would be (it's
iottmco).

What if the issue was never about "good" or "bad" technical advice, or
"political correctness" vs. "political incorrectness", but, rather,
*social dominance*?

Don't you want to keep on playing the Usenet "game"?

OTOH, what if TOG is the actual "pig" in the room, but he oinks very
subtly?

'Twas an evening in October, I'll confess I wasn't sober,
I was carting home a load with manly pride,
When my feet began to stutter and I fell into the gutter,
And a pig came up and lay down by my side.
Then I lay there in the gutter and my heart was all a-flutter,
Till a lady, passing by, did chance to say:
"You can tell a man that boozes by the company he chooses,"
Then the pig got up and slowly walked away.
