Several blokes actually - 'enforcement officers' being dropped off to
go door knocking.

I wonder sometimes if I'm old enough to listen to R4. Looking at the
list of participants above, I'm glad to remain a R2 devotee as Paul
Merton is the only name in there that I would give ear room to.

Students living in halls need a licence: one for each room if they have
a lockable door on their bedroom. A communal licence can be provided by
the college only if there is a lounge area with a TV supplied by the
college as part of the lease.

Students sharing a house need a single licence for the house as long as
they have at least one communal room. If the house is separated into
individual bedsits then they need separate TV licences. In practice,
with private addresses, as long as the house has a TV licence the
authorities don't check further, even though the council tax status i.e.
exempt would give the situation away.
