there are only about 3 times more people in the entire country than
live in Greater London alone!

that'd have been the latter 1/2 of the '80s during the Jason & Kylie
period?. I can believe it - the student's union TV rooms at QUB were
*rammed* every lunchtime with people watching it.

<fX: checks, well, looks up wikipedia>

yeah, the Jason & Kylie wedding episode saw 20 million viewers in the
UK, which would probably have been greater than the population of
Australia at the time.

On a fairly different Australia related note, I'm an currently
addicted to Peter Temple novels - some of the best crime writing I've
ever read. The main problem is that I've read all but 2 or 3 of them
now; I just wish he'd churn them out faster.

It's technically possible using Radio Frequency Interference. Certainly
on CRT TV sets though I'm not sure about plasma or LED sets.

When there's a database of houses sans TV licenses to hand why would they
bother, though?

You're about 50, aren't you?

I started listening to R4 in my late 20s.

I do draw the line at listening to R2, which is what A. mostly listens
to, with the exception of the rare Saturday mornings when Mark Lamarr
and Jo Brand used to stand in for "Jonathan Ross and his Parasite
Friends" (Lamarr's phrase).

"95% of all statistics are made up on the spot." Posting the above as
'proof' is laughable.

That's not living, that's existing.
