If one is good, two is better.

Update - I went to see the machine ... it's a bit more
decrepit than mine, and it has "guillotine" carbs (bad).
The mufflers look as though they were made of concrete.
However, all that won't matter if I'm going to replace
the motor with a BMW R90 or R100 etc.

I offered the guy $2000. He said he'd take it
if he doesn't get a better offer by the weekend.
Now I just need a donor bike. Here we go again.

Actually I don't care what motor/drivetrain/wheels/etc
I put in there, or even if I use a chain final drive
(assuming I can figure out how to adjust the chain tension).
Maybe that Honda CB900 I mentioned last fall is still
available, but there's lots of other candidates on
Craig's. The objective is a touring machine capable
of highway speeds with a sidecar for the g/f. 750 cc's
would put me in a reasonably low insurance rate class,
but the motor would have to put out enough hp to manage
the sidecar's wind drag.

ps. The seller has also got a Honda Magna with a sidecar
for sale. His current ride is a Hyosung GT 250 -- that he paid
only Cdn$2800 for. (I'm not sure if that was new or used;
the MSRP lists at US$3400). Picture and review at:

I seriously hope you intend to put the BMW gearbox in as well because
(trust me) the Dnepr's box will last precisely five minutes with the
extra power and torque of a BMW lump going through it.

Sounds an interesting project, anwyay - quite a common mod in Europe.

So I've read from the blogs. I'd give up reverse gear, but I hardly
ever use it anyway.
