I was looking for a slightly more in-depth discussion on the matter
rather than a synopses, irrespective of that synopses' accuracy.

I'm currently listening to an audio book of Churchill's World War 2
memoirs, I've reached the fall of France, and Churchill's opinion
of de Gaulle seems to be quite high, so far. :-)

The memoirs are quite interesting, too, and I'm listening to them
right after finishing "World War 2 - A Military and Social History",
a series of lectures by Thomas Childers, so there's a nice contrast
between the general approach taken by Childers and the first person
account of one of the Allied leaders.

(I was a bit disappointed, though, when both Childers and Churchill
wrote about Polish cavalry charging German tanks during the defense of
Poland in 1939. Just proves how effective German propaganda was, sigh :-))

The best books about a fighter pilots life were the Biggles ones you
