Sure you can, you just need to get them well away from their peers & put them in a position where not behaving has real consequences for a few years. If they revert when they get back, bung 'em on a Papillonesque island & leave 'em to it. -- Krusty

Erm, Harlow. Staple Tye, to be precise. I have no idea what the actual figures are, but I recall being surprised when I read in the local rag that it was 'poorest ward in $somewhere' There is a mix of ex council houses (like ours) ex-council flats (at the end of our cul-de-sac, and 400k-1m places just over the road from the prefabs. There's been quite an influx of DINKYs into the houses, while some of the ex-council tenants bought, then sold at good profit and moved on. Most of the rest of the houses are (seem to be) owned by ex-tenants that bought, re-mortgaged and started the process of renewal and improvement. The flats are less pleasant, it must be said, but barring one (rumoured) drugs house the biggest trouble we've had is an idiot that figured that because he'd 'never seen me use it' parking his X5 in front of my garage was absolutely fine, and me asking him to not do so was 'cheeky'. He seems to have moved out, although we did eventually settle things mostly amicably. In six years, we've only had the bill round AFAIK twice, and once (recently) was a PCSO enquiring about someone that had had her wing mirror busted up. -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) 116 Giulietta 3.0l Sprint 1.7 GTV TS GT 3.2 V6 Triumph Sprint ST 1050: It's blue, see. www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk

Kinnel, the only time we get them round here is when they get lost on their way to the bakers to buy donuts. Which is no bad thing really as I am not sure I would want to live in an area where plod were commonplace. -- steve auvache VN750 Third gear has scope. SR250 The SpazzTrakka (Improved).

Actually that's probably not true either. We have lots of Henry Moores, an (apparently) jolly good jazz club, a nice little museum, a reasonable playhouse. It *is* chavvy as hell though. > > >> In six years, we've only had the bill round AFAIK twice, > > Twice!! Not sure what the population density is round there, but here (as in our road) it's quite high with all the flats at the end. -- Catman MIB#14 SKoGA#6 TEAR#4 BOTAFOF#38 Apostle#21 COSOC#3 Tyger, Tyger Burning Bright (Remove rust to reply) 116 Giulietta 3.0l Sprint 1.7 GTV TS GT 3.2 V6 Triumph Sprint ST 1050: It's blue, see. www.cuore-sportivo.co.uk
