We're currently "evaluating" SAS CDI, given that the existing choice
doesn't actually do anything useful, although it's still being
prototyped and is expected, by some management at least, to be in
'production' Q1 next year. But it won't.

They finally accepted that, contrary to all the bullshit they'd been
giving us up until then, there product had no ETL capacity whatsoever.
Zero, nada, null. They'd just been ignoring all our ETL requirements
as being able to be fulfilled by basic programming, but when we had
our ETL Workshop in December, I kinda blew up (50-odd people of all
levels) and said that their expectation of using a half-developed,
limited-scope, in-house ETL-like tool as part of their product was
"not acceptable".

That made a few folk sit up and take notice, and they set up a
'Transformation strategy' sub-team which did SFA until Chris took it
over in May, then it seemed like an easy cruise to persuade the world
that SAS CDI was the only possible solution.

Only problem now is that everyone that sees it wants it straight away,
and can't see why we're still pushing ahead with the other. We'll get
there in time :-}

We never did get that TC organised. If you like, why don't you send me
a copy of your reqs. and I'll give a more genuine precis of if, or how
well, CDC (new name since Phase Forward bought W) would actually work.

I hope you'll be posting your review before I go on Sunday.

oh, close call - apparently we're going to the 12:10 showing on
*Sunday*, not tomorrow - I'll post something ASAP.

Though I think we can probably decide in advance that "pity the fool
who goes to see The A-Team".

Oooh, that will be close. We'll either be at the 1620 or the 1840.

Odd that. I tend to agree, but I've seen reviews at both ends of the
scale of dire to enjoyable hokum.

After all, it's not like the original was any great shakes. Fun, yes,
but very much a product of its time.

Oh right, one of them.

You have my sympathies.
