Ouch!!!

And that is annually?

We pay a fraction of that for cars and half of that for motorcycles.

Hell I pay less for insurance than the highest rate for your auto road
tax.

It appears to be based on CO2 emissions. Is that how they justify it?

If I ever buy another vehicle from a dealer I won't feel so bad with
their $100.00 processing fee.

It almost makes me want to go into a car dealership just to mess with them.
With me, it will be "subject to the approval of my cat". My line will be
that my cat has to enjoy riding in the car, and also the hood has to retain
warmth for the right amount of time after the engine is stopped so the cat
can sleep comfortably on it. I could bring a contact thermometer and take
notes on the temperature at various points on the hood at various time
intervals after the car is turned off.

I could also inquire if the car has an electric hood warmer for my cat (my
last car had one!) and demand a discount because they don't offer this
option.

I've never been carried out of a car dealership. Could be fun.

Well, quite.

Yes.

So do I, actually. A lot less.

Erm, the clue is in my last posting.

I've known several people that resisted the idea of putting money into
overhauling an older vehicle for just that reason, that they would never be
able to get that money back out in a sale. And then these same people
boogie down to the car lot and trade in the old car to buy a brand new one.
I never could figure that one out.

It is a matter of value, value to the owner. If I throw $5k at the XJ
I will have a very nice car to use as a daily driver. If I keep the
car for say another five to ten years it is money well spent and good
value for me.

Of course if I turn around and sell it it is a crappy deal for me but
great value for the buyer.
