....and it was a bike salvage guy who had seen my
wrecked-Triumph-wanted Craig's ad. He's got an '05 Thruxton
write-off with salvage papers for Cdn $2500.

So this project budget would be, in Cdn dollars:

Frame & misc parts: $850
Salvaged Thruxton: $2500
Transporting the bike from 300 miles out of town: $150
Lots of wrenching & fussing & cussing & posting on Reeky: priceless
Total: $3500 + experience

ps. He's also got a '76 BMW R60 or R65 -- a bit small
for my Dnepr project as I was hoping for 750cc.

Way to go! And a Thruxton is the only half-decent modern Bonnie engine,
IMHO.

A '76 would be an R60/7 - 600cc. The R65 (650cc as you would guess)
wasn't introduced until 1979. I wouldn't put either of them in your
sidecar project.

No, it would almost certainly be a 60/6. Drum brake. The /7 had a disc
and would be a little bit later. Launched in1977, I think.

Certainly not the R65 - different engine. Short-stroke crank.
