One only has to look at the pictures of massive bonfires on the frozen
Thames in winter in the 15-1600s to realize that the climate has changed.
Whether or not that was a different cycle or part of the same one is also
up for debate.

Not to mention the medieval warm period that preceded it, back when
Newfoundland was known as Vinland, and was settled by the Vikings, 500

In any case, that was a period known as the "little ice age" and the climate
had been warmer before that.
