Actually they shouldn't even be allowed out after twenty-five years.
That said our record for keeping murderers behind bars is not very
good. I'd say it's even money some of them are out long before they
serve twenty-five years.

There appears to be evidence for this, but the timespan of a decade is a
bit too short for anyone to draw any reliable conclusions.

I' prefer to look at the polar ice caps for a longer-term trend picture.
